Barnaby’s Padstow branding
Barnaby’s is a cosy, relaxed restaurant in the heart of Padstow in a former Victorian tearoom. It’s a stone’s throw away from Rick and Katie Toogood’s sister restaurant Prawn On The Lawn, but distinct in its identity and gastronomic influence.
George Barnaby – Rick’s grandfather and Mancunian – inspired the overall design. From the offset, the worker bee was an integral part of Barnaby’s design and identity for its industrial ties to Manchester, which, combined with George’s handwriting, was brought to the forefront of the logo.
I created various hand-drawn sketches of the bee which were then scanned, tweaked and developed before they could be tested against different type combinations.
